God Speaks Through the Everyday

There was a time in my life when I thought I had to hear from God in big, dramatic ways for it to really count. I wanted a clear, undeniable voice from heaven. I wanted Him to show up with flashing neon signs and loud, unmistakable answers.

But more often than not, God speaks in whispers. In the quiet. In the everyday moments we might overlook.

Psalm 19:1 says:
"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork."

God has been showing me that He is always speaking—I just need to slow down enough to listen.

He speaks in the way the sunrise paints the sky with new mercies each morning.
He speaks in the belly laughter of my children, reminding me of His joy.
He speaks in the stillness of early morning coffee, where peace washes over my heart.
He speaks in the messy, ordinary moments—when I’m folding laundry, rocking a baby, or driving to co-op.

Sometimes we miss God’s voice because we expect Him to sound different. But the Bible tells us that even when Elijah was waiting for the Lord, He wasn’t in the wind, or the earthquake, or the fire. Instead, He came in a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:11-12).

So today, I’m slowing down. I’m paying attention. I’m looking for God, not just in the big moments, but in the ordinary ones too—because He’s there, speaking, moving, and loving us in a million little ways.
