Best Times of Year to Visit Disney World with Young Children
Hey there, magical families!
If you’re anything like me, planning a trip to Disney World is almost as exciting as being there! As a mom of three little ones—a 6-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 4-month-old—I know the importance of picking the perfect time to visit the most magical place on Earth.
Springtime Magic: March to May
Spring is one of my favorite times to visit Disney World. The weather is just right—not too hot and not too cold. Plus, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is in full bloom, adding even more color and fun to the parks!
Best Days to Visit: To avoid the spring break crowds, plan your trip for weekdays after spring break ends and before Memorial Day weekend. Mid-week days like Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are usually the least crowded.
Sunny Summer Fun: June to August
Summer might be hot, but it’s also full of longer park hours and extra events. With school out, it’s a convenient time for many families. The kids love splashing around in the water attractions, and let’s be honest, who doesn’t enjoy a Mickey ice cream bar to cool down?
Best Days to Visit: Aim for weekdays in mid-June before the peak of summer vacations. Mondays and Tuesdays tend to be less crowded as many families arrive mid-week or on weekends.
Fabulous Fall: September to November
Fall at Disney World is all about cooler temps and festive fun. Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a big hit with my kids—they get to dress up, trick-or-treat, and enjoy a not-so-spooky night!
Best Days to Visit: Late September and weekdays in October are golden times. Avoid holiday weekends like Columbus Day. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are generally quieter, giving you more room to enjoy the magic.
Winter Wonderland: December to February
Winter brings holiday cheer and smaller crowds, especially after New Year’s. The parks are decked out in festive decor, and there’s something so special about celebrating the season at Disney World. Plus, no one does Christmas quite like Disney!
Best Days to Visit: For the smallest crowds, go on weekdays in early December or January, steering clear of the Christmas and New Year’s rush. Mid-week days like Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are your best bet.
Personal Tip:
My family has found that arriving at the park early in the morning, just as it opens, and taking a break in the afternoon can make a world of difference. We return in the evening refreshed and ready for more fun!
Every season has its unique charm, and no matter when you visit, Disney World is sure to enchant your family. Whether you’re chasing spring blossoms, summer sunshine, fall festivities, or winter wonder, there’s always something special waiting for you.
