The Gift of Rest
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28
By Friday, the weight of the week feels heavy. I’m tired. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. That’s when I hear Jesus’ invitation: “Come to me. Rest.” And I realize I’ve been trying to carry it all on my own again.
Rest doesn’t just mean taking a nap (though I wouldn’t say no to one!). It’s about laying our burdens at Jesus’ feet and trusting Him to handle what we can’t. It’s about stepping away from the endless demands and finding peace in His presence.
One of the best ways I’ve learned to rest is to simply stop and breathe in His Word. To let the chaos around me fade for a moment as I soak in the truth that He is in control, not me. Rest reminds us that we’re not the saviors of our families—He is. And that’s the most freeing truth of all.
Prayer: Lord, I bring my weariness to You today. Teach me to rest in Your promises and to trust that You are working, even when I can’t see it. Thank You for being my peace in the storm. Amen.
