The House is a Mess, but My Heart is Full
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)
The kitchen is covered in breakfast crumbs. The laundry pile is threatening to take over the house. The kids are running through the halls, full of energy before I’ve even finished my coffee. And if I’m honest? I feel like I’m drowning in the chaos.
The enemy whispers, You can’t handle this. You’ll never get it all done. You’re failing.
But the truth? My home is full of LIFE.
Yes, there are messes. But messes mean memories are being made. The dishes in the sink mean bellies are full. The noise means my children feel safe, loved, and free to be themselves.
Instead of spiraling into frustration, I’m choosing gratitude. I’m choosing to find joy in the little things, even when the mess feels overwhelming. Because this season? It won’t last forever. One day, my house will be quiet. One day, the floors will stay clean. And I’ll miss the sound of tiny feet running through my home.
So today, I’m shifting my perspective. I’m trading stress for thankfulness. I’m leaning into the beauty of this season—even when it’s loud and messy.
Joy is a choice. Gratitude is a choice. And today, I’m choosing both.
