When Patience Runs Thin

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” — Proverbs 15:1 (ESV)

I woke up tired.

Before my feet even hit the floor, little voices called my name. The baby needed me. The toddler wanted breakfast now. The six-year-old was asking endless questions.

I snapped before 9 a.m.

And the guilt followed right behind.

Why am I like this?
Why can’t I be more patient?
Why does motherhood bring out the worst in me sometimes?

But here’s the truth: My children don’t need a perfect mom. They need a mom who keeps trying.

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit—not something we muster up on our own, but something that grows in us when we stay connected to Jesus.

So today, I’m pausing. Taking a deep breath. And choosing to respond with grace—even when my patience runs thin.

And when I fail? I’ll apologize. I’ll try again. Because this is a refining process, and God is still working on me.

Mama, if you’re struggling with patience today, you’re not alone. Lean on Jesus. He’s not finished with us yet.
